Ced Vig/Learning in Retirement Scholarship
Based on the notion that minds do not retire and curiosity blends well with lifelong learning, Learning in Retirement provides quality lifelong learning opportunities for older adults throughout the Nicolet College District. Since its beginning in 1996, LIR has offered “just for the fun of it” classes with topics ranging from nature study, current events, travel, health, history, and much more.
Ced Vig was instrumental in founding the Learning in Retirement program at Nicolet College. Ced was an institution in the area: educator, author, naturalist, and lifelong learner. The LIR program established the Ced Vig/Learning in Retirement Scholarship to recognize and honor Ced’s contributions to the Northwoods. Recipients of this scholarship must be enrolled in at least nine credits, be non-traditional students (25-years-old or older), and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
